Have you ever wanted to develop a meditation practice of your own but just can't quiet your mind or make yourself sit still without your mind wandering off? Or do you already have a well-established meditation practice and want to add a new dimension to it? You will thoroughly enjoy this new way of meditating.
A meditation board makes meditation easy for beginners and allows for the expansion of an already established practice. It allows you to sit still and concentrate on tracing the labyrinth pattern on the board. You begin on the outside of the board and work your way into the center of the board, and then back out again.
In this class, you will meditate with a board. You will get to use several boards and learn about the many ways in which you can use the boards for meditating. You will also learn about the OTHER ways to meditate (there are many) and begin to learn and practice breath work. The boards can be used to establish your stillness practice as well. They will help you slow down, relax and focus.
The health benefits of a meditation practice are well known and backed by science today. Meditation isn't just a mindful practice, it can improve your entire being. It can improve your health in a number of important ways, from helping reduce your stress levels and stress response, to helping control chronic pain and controlling your blood pressure. Those are just a few of the many benefits. We will go over much more in each class.
There are several "beginners" classes scheduled at The Washington Healing Arts Center currently. You are welcome to come to as many as you want. You will learn something new each time because each time you sit down with your board is a brand new experience.
